W WBC. This refers to white blood cells. Wheel and flare reaction. This is an immune reaction in the skin that occurs when one has a positive tuberculin skin test or has a positive test when allergy testing is done. It is characterized much like a mosquito bite with an area of central redness in the skin, local swelling (wheal) and the subsequent appearance of a red rim outside the wheal called a flare. |
